Hawaii Senate confirms Anonsen as Advisory Council chair

TMG StateSpeech 2

One of our Managing Partners, William “Bill” Anonsen, has been re-elected as Chair of the Hawaii Advisory Council on Emergency Management.

Bill was unanimously supported by all 25 Senators for his Senate Confirmation completed on April 21, 2017 to continue for a second full, four-year term as the chair of the council. He has served on the advisory council for six years, the last four years as its chair. This second term will expire June 30, 2021.

Bill, who is based in Honolulu, is Managing Partner/Principal for The Maritime Group in the Pacific.

The Hawaii Advisory Council on Emergency Management was established in 1951 and serves as an advisory body and resource to the Governor and the Director of Emergency Management on issues and concerns pertaining to emergency management, preparedness, emergency response and recovery after a natural disaster or emergency incident.

Emergency Management

The council consists of seven members nominated by the governor. The Senate Committee on Public Safety, Intergovernmental, and Military Affairs conducts an ‘Advise and Consent’ hearing to review the qualifications of each nominee.

The committee provides all senators a recommendation prior to the full Senate confirmation vote.

In addition, Bill serves on a number of other boards for organizations concerned with public safety as well as charities and non-profit organisations.

Congratulations from all at TMG to Bill on his re-appointment. He is a valuable asset to this very crucial council as well as TMG where he is a longstanding and valued Partner who has played a key role in the development of the business.

TMG and State 21 have welcomed the release of an influential new document this week, which is essential reading for anyone working in ports and associated sectors.

‘A Guide to Good Practice on Port Marine Operations – Prepared in conjunction with the Port Marine Safety Code 2016 – Moving Britain Ahead’ has been issued by the Department for Transport and the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.

The 193-page publication gives comprehensive advice about such areas as Marine Safety Management Systems, risk assessment, marine services, emergency preparedness and response, pilotage and navigation.

Coastal security also comes under the spotlight – an issue which TMG and State 21 have been consistently sharing their knowledge about at Governmental level.

We have the expertise and experience to offer solutions in support of this important new document to either ports direct or other companies supporting port operations.

You can read the publication here.

Please contact us for further information about this new document or for a no-obligation discussion about how our friendly and experienced team can help you.

We’ve recorded our busiest start to a year so far with rising demand for our services worldwide in 2017.

Our professional and friendly team have lined up contracts across multiple sectors after a surge of interest in in January.

Targeted projects cover ferry and cruise operations, port management, marine surveys, feasibility studies and maritime and border security.

Although the maritime market is toughening in certain sectors, there are still myriad opportunities available.

Our clients tell us they are seeking services which give them the competitive edge to develop and win new business.

We are seeing an increasing trend for the outsourcing of specialist services to ensure the most cost-effective solution for any given project.

2017 starts in style

Recent investment in our own business has helped us to our busiest first month of the year with extensive negotiations, proposals and expressions of interest for major projects.

It is an extremely positive and exciting time as we look forward to helping more businesses and organisations succeed in the maritime sector during 2017.

We’re bidding for work in the Caribbean, Mauritius, the Far East, the Middle East, East Africa, the Americas, Russia, the UK and Europe.

The latest successes come after significant developments at TMG.

We recently appointed experienced commercial manager Kevin Hawes as our Business Development Manager and Senior Consultant based in London.

We’ve also launched this website and gained ISO 9001 quality accreditation. Last year we joined forces with resilience management specialists State 21 and aligned with international security provider Bowline Defence Ltd.

We are also carrying out joint proposals with HSOG Limited/Graham & Woolnough Limited and Arup Limited.
