The Maritime Group (TMG) Pacific is providing support as a legendary voyaging canoe crosses the Atlantic on the next leg of her epic circumnavigation of the globe.
It is helping to provide logistics support for the iconic Hōkūleʻa on her 50,000 mile odyssey around the world and her safety escort vessel, Gershon II.
Hōkūleʻa has set sail from Cape Town in South Africa for a voyage of 2,400 nautical miles to Brazil as she reaches the mid- point of her historic Mālama Honua expedition.
As a global consultancy, TMG has the capability to help arrange for the critical logistical support/supplies, provide nautical/weather routing guidance, assist with arrangements with port agents and officials, and ensure the safety of the craft and crew worldwide for the Polynesian Voyaging Society.
TMG is setting course for increased growth in 2015 with ambitious projects worldwide after a record year.
We have recorded our busiest ever 12 months after a complete restructuring of the business in early 2014.
We attracted our most enquiries, secured our highest number of contracts and expanded with a new office and staff.
Now we have lined up our strongest pipeline of work for the year ahead as we aim for more expansion over the next 12 months – including major projects in the UK, Africa, Middle East, Asia and New Zealand.
TMG founder Capt John M Cox III has been honoured with two prestigious awards.
He was recently recognised with a Distinguished Alumni Award by the California Maritime Academy. In a separate accolade he was named Maritime Person of the Year by the Pacific North West Chapter of the Council of American Master Mariners (CAMM).
Capt Cox, who is President of The Maritime Group, Inc., and Chairman of The Maritime Group (International) Ltd, said: “It is a tremendous honour to be recognised by my fellow mariners and peers in such a wonderful way.”
Congratulations Capt Cox.
