Captain George Brook Johnson

Captain George Brook Johnson

george_brook_johnsonThe Maritime Group is very saddened to report that its representative in Australia, George Brook Johnson, crossed the bar last Saturday evening after a long fight against cancer.

Brook was a very good shipmate and long time friend of our European Managing Director and International Executive Vice President Malcolm Parrott.

They were cadets together in the New Zealand Shipping Company, serving in the cadet training ship MV Otaio and going to sea on the same day.

The thoughts and condolences of all at TMG are with Brook’s family and friends at this sad time.

Congratulations to US Coast Guard (USCG) Rear Admiral Cari Thomas and distinguished commercial maritime professional  Carleen Lyden-Kluss on becoming International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Ambassadors.

Both were nominated by the USCG. Bill Anonsen, Hawaii-based managing director of TMG Pacific, personally congratulated Cari and Carleen on their appointments and hailed their ‘years of experience and contributions’ to the global maritime community and ‘unique skill sets as influential industry role models’.

He described both as ‘great assets’ to our maritime community and a welcome addition to IMO as Ambassadors.

Congratulations to Cari and Carleen.

tmg_pbaOne of The Maritime Group’s important strategic partners has made a member of its transport planning team a Partner.   Dougie McDonald will oversee operations in development and infrastructure consultancy Peter Brett Associates’ (PBA) offices in Scotland Dougie joined PBA as a Director of Transport Planning in May 2014 from Systra, and became an Equity Director in January 2015.

TMG was previously closely allied to Systra but with the Scottish team leaving and joining PBA, TMG followed suit and aligned itself up with PBA, building up a strong business relationship and rapport.

We are carrying out a great deal of work with PBA, including Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) projects in Scotland.   Congratulations on your appointment from all in TMG, Dougie; we are all looking forward to working closely with you.
